Our Services

We provide frontline legal services – tailored advice, professional representation and specific legal education to people and organisations defending our life-sustaining oceans, biodiverse forests, campaigning locally, or calling for stronger action on climate change.

We principally work in the areas of criminal law, administrative and constitutional law, tort law, anti-discrimination and human rights law. We also assist defenders who want to hold governments and police accountable for their actions by using courts and other mechanisms like complaints to regulators and authorities.

We help climate and environmental defenders who are facing threats and intimidation because of their activism from governments, businesses or individuals. These are also known as SLAPP (Strategic Litigation Against Public Participation) cases.

Well-connected in the legal profession, we make referrals to relevant services for matters to do with environment and planning law, native title or land rights, climate, land or property law, and corporate accountability.

If you are a climate defender or organiser who needs legal assistance or advice, please call or email us for help.

If there had been a service I knew I could go to, one that was trusted in the movement and had the skills and understanding to deal with something like this — I would have reached out straight away.

Particularly in those first moments when everything is spinning — you’re dealing with media, legal threats, stress, and confusion — knowing there’s a place you can go to for advice, referrals, and understanding of the bigger picture would’ve taken a huge weight off.
